What has changed from our last batch of sunscreen tubes?
New improved tins
Our new sunscreens will be in tins not tubes due to feedback from our last batch of our tubes splitting more than usual.
New formula
It is now lighter in texture and easier to apply. Please see ingredient list below for more info.
Sweat and Water Resistant
This new batch is sweat resistant but it is water resistant to 40 minutes only. We know it doesn't sound like much compared to our first batch which was 4 hours water resistant but we found that people were not reapplying as often because of this and were getting burnt.
TGA recommends reapplying sunscreen at least every 2 hours and even more regularly after sweating, swimming or toweling.
The test for water resistance involves the test person sitting in a small tub, not moving for up to 2 or 4 hours depending on the test parameters and the SPF reassessed after.
This doesn't really translate to real world applications where people are swimming or children playing in water.
We recommend shade and protective clothing to be the first line of defense for water based activities.
Ingredients
FULL INGREDIENT LIST:
Active Ingredient: Non Nano Zinc Oxide* 250mg/g;
Also contains: Candelilla Wax*, Coco-octanoate/decanoate (coconut oil derived), D-alpha-tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Glycerol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Isododecane (plant derived), Isostearic Acid*, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate*, Polyhydroxystearic Acid* (vegetable derived), Purified Water*, Sodium Chloride, Sunflower Oil*, Thuja Plicata* (Hinokitiol), Xanthan Gum*.
*Organic Ingredients
INGREDIENTS:
Zinc Oxide - 250mg/g - Like a bouncer at a busy club, it lets the good in but stops the bad. It protects you from the
sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Candelilla Wax - A plant based wax that keeps our sunscreen feeling nice and lux, not hard and pasty.
Coco-octanoate/decanoate (coconut oil derived) - Fatty acids derived from coconut, this lightweight moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
D-alpha-tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)- A powerful antioxidant that prevents free radical damage on the skin i.e. slows down aging. YASSSS.
Glycerol - Also called glycerin, this ingredient is the queen of hydration. Found naturally in our skin, glycerol hydrates and softens skin and protects against dryness.
Glyceryl Stearate Citrate - Similar to Glycerol in softening the skin, it also holds the cream together, preventing it from splitting into an oily mess. Eww.
Isododecane - Made from plant derived starch and sugars such as corn and sugarcane, this ingredient makes our sunscreen feel light on skin and easy to spread.
Isostearic Acid - Another plant based binder so our sunscreen spreads easily without feeling oily.
Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate - Besides being our new fave tongue twister, this natural emulsifier made from castor beans binds our sunscreen so it doesn't separate.
Polyhydroxystearic Acid - Yes it has acid in the name but this ingredient is actually a soft pliable wax derived from castor oil. It's often used in mineral based sunscreens to help the mineral pigments disperse more evenly and reduce the dreaded white cast effect we all fear. It is also often used in sunscreens to make them water resistant.
Purified Water - This one you know ;)
Sodium Chloride - Good old table salt. Besides being great on hot chips, it is often used in very small amounts in cosmetics to help bind ingredients together. It can also be used as a thickening agent, making the product easier to apply.
Sunflower Oil - Derived from sunflower seeds, this oil is high in linoleic acid which is an omega 6 fatty acid essential for maintaining good skin function.
Thuja Plicata (Hinokitiol) - Sounds like Hello Kitty but it's not, it is a plant oil derived from the western red cedar tree. This extract has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It helps extend the shelf life of the product.
Xanthan Gum - Not like chewing gum, more like cornstarch, it thickens the product and improves the texture. It also keeps the cream from splitting.

Apply everyday (seriously!) to face & body 20 mins before sun exposure.
Reapply every 2 hours or even more frequently after swimming, sweating or toweling.
HOT TIP: Use our SPF brush or a beauty blender to reapply.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Seek shade. Wear protective clothing, hat and sunglasses when outdoors.
HOW MUCH:
FACE & NECK - 1/4 tsp
You should see a nice & light sheen. If you see whiteness, there might be too much there, spread it.

FAQ
How long does it last?
Great question! Our sunscreens have a 3 year shelf life. Please see bottom of tin and box for expiry date.
Is this sunscreen vegan & cruelty free?
100% YES! Our sunscreen contains no animal products and we will never ever EVER test our sunscreen on animals. Unless you count our friend Matt who is abit wild and hairy.
Is this safe for babies and kids?
YASS. Sunslayer is safe for babies above 6 months of age, children and those with sensitive skin. As with any new product, we recommend a patch test first to check for any sensitivity.
What about babies under 6 months of age?
Well, the TGA and Australasian College of Dermatologists recommend minimising the use of sunscreen on babies less than 6 months of age by using only on small portions of the body that can’t be covered by clothing and shade. Again, always spot check first.
Can I use during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
YES - our sunscreen is safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Your skin might be sensitive during this time (thanks hormones) so it's good to use a mineral sunscreen like ours.
However we advise that you speak to your doctor first before starting any new skincare routines or if you have any concerns.
